Mariam Valishvili



Deputy Minister of Energy of Georgia

 
Mrs. Mariam Valishvili occupies position of Deputy Minister of Energy of Georgia since 2008. She has 14 years of management and business development working experience. Most of this time she worked for the projects in the energy sector as well as private businesses. Almost 5 years she spent with the US Company "Burns & Roe Enterprises, Inc." (USAID contractor) which provided technical assistance to the energy sector of Georgia. Next 5 years she worked for US company "AES Telasi", where she was assigned big variety of responsibilities including business operations, project management and analytical tasks. One year she spent with Core International, Inc. (USAID contractor) providing advisory assistance in the field of policy and regulatory framework and other areas as may be required for the Ministry of Energy to strengthen its policy. Several pre-feasibility studies and business plans were undertaken within the project as well. Her skills particularly in the coordination of large-scale gas pipeline rehabilitation project, evaluation of needs for assistance and development of TORs for Advisory Services to the Energy Sector were largely demonstrated at Millennium Challenge Georgia (MCG). As required under the responsibilities Ms. Valishvili used to cooperate closely with different local and international organizations: UNDP, WB, Tacis, TRACECA, EBRD, KFW, Georgian Pipeline Company, GIOC, BP, Hagler Bailly services, Inc.(later PA Consulting), Booz Allen Hamilton and other stakeholders in the sector. Ms. Valishvili's experience specifically in the Energy sector makes her familiar with the processes and reforms taking place in the sector and capable to evaluate the outcomes in a professional and efficient manner. Mrs. Valishvili has Master's Degree in Engineering Management of Georgian Technical University (2000) and Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences of Georgian Technical University (1998). Mrs. Valishvili is married and has five children.
